Procedure for Preparing ServerNet/FX Adapters for
IOMF CRU Replacement
To bring up the connection from the LBU for the ServerNet FX adapter connected
to the Y-ring to the Y ServerNet fabric, issue the following ServerNet/FX adapter
subsystem commands:
SCF> START LBU $ZZFOX.#Y
Task 8: Switch back the primary FOX monitor process (optional)
To return the primary FOX monitor process to the processor it was running in before
replacing the PMF CRU, issue the following ServerNet/FX adapter subsystem SCF
command:
SCF> PRIMARY $ZZFOX, n
where n is the processor where the backup process is running.
Procedure for Preparing ServerNet/FX Adapters for IOMF CRU
Replacement
When an IOMF CRU will be replaced in a NonStop S-series system that is part of a
FOX ring, perform the following tasks to ensure continued connectivity with the X or Y
ServerNet fabric associated with the IOMF CRU being replaced:
Task 1: Stop the LBU
To stop the LBU to the X ServerNet fabric associated with the IOMF CRU to be
replaced, issue the following ServerNet/FX adapter subsystem SCF command:
SCF> STOP LBU $ZZFOX.#X
To stop the LBU to the Y ServerNet fabric associated with the IOMF CRU to be
replaced, issue the following ServerNet/FX adapter subsystem SCF command:
SCF> STOP LBU $ZZFOX.#Y
Task 2: Replace the IOMF CRU
To replace one or more IOMF CRUs, use the Replace IOMF guided replacement tool.
Replace IOMF is a graphical user interface (GUI) that guides you step by step through
the replacement process. Using Replace IOMF is now the only supported method for
replacing a PMF CRU.
To access the Replace IOMF guided procedure in OSM:
1. Log on to the OSM Service Connection
2. Right-click the IOMF CRU you want to replace and select Actions
3. Select Replace from the list of available actions
Note. This procedure is only necessary if a ServerNet/FX adapter is located in the same
enclosure and on the same ServerNet fabric as the IOMF CRU being replaced.
