ABORT Command
ABORT Command
The ABORT command terminates execution of the operational firmware in the
specified ServerNet/FX adapter. An aborted ServerNet/FX adapter does not process
data or control frames. Instead, it passes frames through to its FOX neighbor. An
aborted LBU is reset to the STOPPED summary state. ABORT is a sensitive
command.
The ABORT command syntax is
OUT file-spec
causes any SCF output generated for this command to be directed to the specified
file.
LBU
is a keyword specifying that an LBU name comes next on the command line.
LBU-name
is the name of the LBU ($ZZFOX.#X or $ZZFOX.#Y) associated with the
ServerNet/FX adapter to be aborted.
Considerations
If you are physically changing a FOX cable, you must logically disconnect it before
aborting a ServerNet/FX adapter. The DISCONNECT command is explained on
page 4-21. Disconnect its left and right neighbors by issuing the following
commands from the local FOX cluster:
SCF> DISCONNECT LBU $ZZFOX.#X, RIGHT
SCF> DISCONNECT LBU $ZZFOX.#X, LEFT
You should abort both $ZZFOX.#X and $ZZFOX.#Y before physically removing a
FOX cluster from a FOX ring.
A fully aborted FOX cluster does not appear in the subnetwork map generated by a
STATUS SUBNET, DETAIL command issued from another cluster. The STATUS
command is explained on page 4-41.
If the processor is still powered on, an aborted ServerNet/FX adapter will still
passthrough packets to its neighbor, but the ServerNet/FX adapter won’t
resynchronize or otherwise process the packets. This procedure is called hardware
passthrough mode. If you issue the DISCONNECT command for the left and right
sides of the ServerNet/FX adapter, then no packets passthrough the ServerNet/FX
adapter.
