DISCONNECT Command
DISCONNECT Command
The DISCONNECT command logically disconnects a link on the FOX ring subnetwork
for the specified LBU object, preventing packets from traveling in the specified
direction. DISCONNECT is a sensitive command.
The DISCONNECT command syntax is
OUT file-spec
causes any SCF output generated for this command to be directed to the specified
file.
LBU
is a keyword specifying that an LBU name comes next on the command line.
LBU-name
is the name of the LBU ($ZZFOX.#X or $ZZFOX.#Y) associated with the
ServerNet/FX adapter that is to disconnect its left or right side from the FOX ring
subnetwork.
{ LEFT | RIGHT }
specifies the direction in which communications are to be disconnected.
Considerations
To better understand the effect of the DISCONNECT command, visualize a
ServerNet/FX adapter as having two sides, as shown in Figure 4-1 on page 4-18.
You must disconnect both the left and right sides of the ServerNet/FX adapter to
fully stop packets from flowing to or from the local cluster on that adapter. See
Figure 4-1 to see how the DISCONNECT command compares to the START LBU,
STOP, and ABORT commands.
Executing the DISCONNECT command to disconnect the left (or right) side
prevents messages from flowing in or out the left (or right) side.
When removing a FOX cluster from a FOX ring, disconnect the corresponding left
and right neighbors of the ServerNet/FX adapter using the DISCONNECT
command on the local cluster. Then use the ABORT command to stop the
ServerNet/FX adapter.
