SNAX Connection Manager (SNAX/CM) Manual

SNAX/CM Configuration Examples
Configuring SNAX/CM
2–4 097842 Tandem Computers Incorporated
CONNECTAPPL
applname
indicates that SNAX/CM will be used for the line for both call-out and
allow-call-in operations. A SNAX/CM process using an APPL named
applname
in the SNAX/XF service manager process with APPLTYPE type
CMAPPL can request a call-out or call-in operation.
CONNECTAPPL ANY
indicates that SNAX/CM will be used for the line for both call-out and
allow-call-in operations. A SNAX/CM process using any APPL name
configured in the SNAX/XF service manager process as APPLTYPE type
CMAPPL can request a call-out or call-in operation.
DIALTYPE: specifies the type of operation supported by the line. This attribute is
valid for SNAX/XF over either X.25 or Token-Ring lines.
IN
specifies that the line supports only incoming calls. SNAX/CM call-out
requests are rejected.
INOUT
specifies that the line supports either incoming or outgoing calls.
OUT
specifies that the line supports only outgoing calls. Call-in requests from
SNAX/CM are rejected.
MAXPUS: specifies the maximum number of PUs that can be associated with a
switched line. Note that if you specify more than one, you must also specify
CONNECTAPPL ANY or CONNECTAPPL
applname
; otherwise, an error occurs and
the configuration is not allowed.
SNAX/CM
Configuration
Examples
This subsection describes some environments in which SNAX/CM may be used, and
provides examples for SNAX/XF lines over both X.25 and Token-Ring networks.
Using SNAX/CM in an X.25
Environment
The following example shows how SNAX/CM may be used in an X.25 network to
support complex configurations. The configuration example includes both calling in
to or calling out from a Tandem system.
If there are more than 256 connections or you want to partition lines by different
application groups, you can use multiple SNAX/CM processes. Figure 2-1 shows how
SNAX/CM communicates through a single X25AM process, utilizing one SNAX/XF
line handler process and multiple switched ports.
