SNAX Creator-2 Configuration and Control Manual

Appendix B SCF Error Messages for
SNAX Creator-2
117143 SNAX Creator-2 Configuration and Control Manual B–1
This appendix describes the various types of error messages you may encounter when
using the SNAX Creator-2 subsystem. In particular, this appendix lists the error
messages specific to SNAX Creator-2, describes the probable cause and effect of each
error, and suggests an appropriate recovery action. Numbers inserted into the
messages are shown in this appendix as
n
.
SCF displays an error message when it cannot complete the requested action. When
you use SNAX Creator-2, error messages can originate from SCF, from the
SNAX Creator-2 subsystem itself, or from other subsystems you are using with
SNAX Creator-2 (such as SNAX/APN or SNAX/XF). The four main types of errors
encountered when using SNAX Creator-2 are:
Common errors
SCF errors
Errors from other subsystems
SNAX Creator-2 errors
In addition to error messages, event messages can also be generated by the
SNAX Creator-2 subsystem. Refer to the Operator Messages Manual for more
information about these event messages.
Operating system messages are presented in the Guardian Procedure Errors and Messages
Manual.
Common Errors SCF provides a pool of error messages used by all subsystems. These errors are called
“common errors” and always have negative error numbers.
For SNAX Creator-2, error messages for common errors are reported through SCF and
SCP, but each error message is preceded by the subsystem name. Therefore, when
these messages are reported for the SNAX Creator-2 subsystem, they have the prefix
SNAXCRE. These error messages have a negative-value error number in the range
-00001 through -00999 and in the -32nnn series of numbers. Common errors are
described in the Subsystem Control Facility (SCF) Reference Manual (for errors E-00001
through E-00999) and the SPI Common Extensions Manual (for errors in the -32nnn series
of numbers).
SCF Errors Errors generated by SCF have error numbers that begin at 20000 and may be
encountered during SNAX Creator-2 operation. Refer to the Subsystem Control Facility
(SCF) Reference Manual for more information about the SCF error messages.
Errors From Other
Subsystems
SCF errors reported by other subsystems are described in the SCF reference manuals
for those subsystems. The displayed text of the message generally identifies the
reporting subsystems, although the text of messages from both SNAX/APN and
SNAX/XF identifies the subsystem as SNAX. For information about messages reported
by these two subsystems, refer to the SCF Reference Manual for SNAX/APN or the SCF
Reference Manual for SNAX/XF, depending on which subsystem you are using.
