Glossary
Glossary–4 117143 SNAX Creator-2 Configuration and Control Manual
sensitive command. A command that can be issued only by a user with super-group
access, by the owner of the subsystem, or by a member of the group of the owner of
the subsystem.
SESSION object type. A SNAX Creator-2 object type that is used to record information
about a session so that accounting information can be generated when the session is
terminated. SESSION objects are nonconfigurable.
SLU. See secondary logical unit.
SNA. See Systems Network Architecture (SNA).
SNAX /APN. SNAX Advanced Peer Networking. A Tandem software product that
enables a Tandem NonStop system to function as a type 2.1 node.
SNAX/APN logon manager (TLOGMGR). The module within SNAX/APN that handles
logon from a remote 3270 device. It works in cooperation with the Tandem Logon
Manager for IBM Systems (ILOGMGR).
SNAX Creator. Tandem software that supports SNAX/XF and SNAX/CDF by creating
new application processes.
SNAX Creator-2. Tandem software that supports SNAX/XF and SNAX/APN by
creating new application processes. It succeeds SNAX Creator.
SNAX /XF. A Tandem software product that enables a Tandem NonStop system to
communicate, using subarea networking, with directly attached SNA devices and
directly attached SNA hosts. The Tandem system functions either as a type 5.0 node
(without cross-domain functions) or as a type 2.0 node. These functions can be
combined to allow transparent pass-through of data flows between SNA devices in a
Tandem network and SNA hosts.
SPI. See Subsystem Programmatic Interface (SPI).
$SSCP. The process name of the service-manager process.
SU object type. An object type that identifies a file name that the SNAX Creator-2
subsystem uses to open the access method.
subordinate object. An object of a one type that is logically subordinate to an object of
another type. For example, in SNAX Creator-2, a CONNECTION object is subordinate
to an SU object.
SUBSYS object type. The object type that defines the SNAX Creator-2 subsystem itself.
subsystem. A program (or set of processes) that manages a cohesive set of objects.
Subsystem Control Facility (SCF). A DSM management tool. It is a unified command
interface that simplifies the tasks of configuring, controlling, and collecting
information about Tandem data communications subsystems.
Subsystem Control Point (SCP). A special management interface between SCF and
Tandem data communications subsystems such as SNAX Creator-2.
Subsystem Programmatic Interface (SPI). A set of procedures, definitions, and protocols
for building, sending, retrieving, and decoding messages.
