Distribution of
Function
A network may contain multiple SNAX Creator-2 subsystems and access methods. The
following are all possible:
One SNAX Creator-2 subsystem can have connections to several access methods.
One access method can have separate connections to several SNAX Creator-2
subsystems.
One configuration database can be used for several access methods.
One configuration database can be used by several SNAX Creator-2 subsystems.
The SNAX Creator-2 subsystems, access methods, and applications configured in a
single configuration database can be distributed on different nodes throughout an
Expand network. SCF operators on any node can interact with a SNAX Creator-2
configuration database through any SNAX Creator-2 subsystem.
Starting SNAX
Creator-2
The RUN CREOBJ command starts a SNAX Creator-2 subsystem as a process; it also
creates a configuration database and a SUBSYS object for the SNAX Creator-2. In most
installations, the only people who use this command are the control operators and
system programmers responsible for installing and running the SNAX Creator-2
subsystem.
Note SNAX/XF and SNAX/APN currently require that a SET table be defined to allow SNAX Creator-2 to
access the service manager (for example $SSCP). You can define a SET table for SNAX/APN by using
the following SCF command:
ALTER SUBSYS $SSCP, SETTAB
filename
where
filename
is the name of a SET table. If SNAX Creator-2 is directed to access the
service manager before the SET table is defined, an error will be reported. When the
operator defines the SET table, SNAX Creator-2 will automatically recognize the fact,
publish an event, and begin to function normally.
