Control Verbs
Control Verbs
Control (or Control-operator) verbs are intended for use by control-operator TPs, which
are programs that assist the control operator to control an LU.
ACTIVATE-SESSION (SF1)
The ACTIVATE-SESSION verb activates a session explicitly. This verb does not start a
conversation: it initiates an LU-LU session by sending or requesting a Bind Even for
parallel-session LUs, each occurrence of the ACTIVATE-SESSION verb activates only
one session. For multiple sessions, the verb has to be used multiple times.
To use the ACTIVATE-SESSION verb, the TP that APS represents must have session
control authorization. Session control authorization is determined by the value assigned
to the SESSIONCONTROL attribute of the TP. Only a TP with a value of YES for this
attribute can activate a session. The SCF name for the TP is TPN, and the attribute is set
when the TPN object is added or subsequently altered.
