RECEIVE-IMMEDIATE (SF5)
RECEIVE-IMMEDIATE (SF5)
The RECEIVE-IMMEDIATE verb receives any data or control information that is
immediately available from the partner TP. The information, if available, can be data,
conversation status, or a request for confirmation. The RECEIVE-IMMEDIATE verb
does not wait for information to arrive from the partner TP. The verb completes
immediately with an indication of whether any information was received and, if any, the
type of information. The local TP must be in the Receive state to issue this verb.
Request Fields
Fill (L,B)
specifies the unit of data to be returned to the local TP in the reply. You can enter
one of the following two values:
L
specifies that the data is to be returned in units of logical records. Data is
returned as soon as a complete logical record is received or when the buffer is
full, whichever comes first. The size of the buffer is specified in the Data
Length field. If the logical record is larger than the buffer, the TP receives a
partial record in the buffer and the Data Type field in the reply indicates that an
incomplete logical record was received. To receive the remainder of the logical
record, you must issue one or more RECEIVE-AND-WAIT verbs.
B
specifies that the data is to be returned as soon as the buffer is full or the end of
the data is received, whichever comes first. The size of the buffer is specified in
the Data Length field. This specification causes SNAX/APC to ignore the
logical record structure of the received data.
