Utility Functions
Utility Functions
This subsection describes the utility functions provided by APS. These functions are not
themselves verbs, but aid you in using APS. These functions are:
Hexadecimal editor (F14)
Translate to ASCII (SF14)
Translate to EBCDIC (SF15)
Print Screen (F13)
Recover Screen (F15)
The Hexadecimal Editor (F14)
The hexadecimal editor (F14) enables you to edit and display in hexadecimal the
contents of the User Data field in the SEND-DATA, RECEIVE-AND-WAIT, and
RECEIVE-IMMEDIATE (or mapped equivalent) verbs. Note that you can only display
the data in the RECEIVE-AND-WAIT and RECEIVE-IMMEDIATE (or mapped
equivalent) verbs. You can use the hexadecimal editor to enter non-text data, such as a
GDS variable header, and to enter more than 80 characters of data, which is the
maximum amount you can enter directly in the SEND-DATA or MC-SEND-DATA verb
screen.
When you select the hexadecimal editor, the APS function key definitions change.
Table 4-3
lists the function key definitions of the hexadecimal editor.
