service transaction program (STP)
service transaction program (STP). A transaction program that provides only a limited
specific network function.
session. In SNA, a temporary logical connection between two network addressable units for
the purpose of exchanging data and control information in accordance with ground rules
that have been agreed upon for that exchange. A session can be activated, tailored to
provide various protocols, and deactivated, as requested.
SLU. See secondary logical unit (SLU)
.
SNA. Systems network architecture.
SNAX/Advanced Peer Networking (SNAX/APN). The Tandem implementation of type 2.1
node operation, in which the Tandem system serves as a low entry networking (LEN)
node.
SNAX/Advanced Program Communications (SNAX/APC). A high-level API that allows
Tandem application programs to communicate with SNA devices and host software
using LU 6.2 conversations. Contrast with SNAX/High-Level Support (SNAX/HLS)
.
SNAX/APC. See SNAX/Advanced Program Communications (SNAX/APC)
.
SNAX/APC Trace Analysis Program (APCTAP). A program that formats the output of the
SNAX/APC trace facility into a readable form.
SNAX/APN. See SNAX/Advanced Peer Networking (SNAX/APN)
.
SNAX/CDF. See SNAX/Cross Domain facility (SNAX/CDF)
.
SNAX/Cross Domain facility (SNAX/CDF). A Tandem software product that allows
procedures running in a Tandem System to communicate with LUs in other SNA
domains.
SNAX/Extended Facility (SNAX/XF). A Tandem software product that provides a gateway
between Tandem NonStop systems and SNA systems and devices. With SNAX/XF,
Tandem systems can function as fully integrated components of an SNA network.
SNAX/XF allows SNA devices attached to a NonStop system either directly or through
a switched line to use Tandem applications. SNAX/XF provides device control, session
passthrough, and application-to-application communication.
SNAX/High-Level Support (SNAX/HLS). An interface application that allows Tandem
application programs to communicate with SNA devices and host software via LU types
other than LU 6.2. Contrast with SNAX/Advanced Program Communications
(SNAX/APC).
SNAX/HLS. See SNAX/High-Level Support (SNAX/HLS)
.
SNAX/XF. See SNAX/Extended Facility (SNAX/XF)
