SNALU
SNALU. A SNAX/XF, SNAX/APN and SNAX/CDF programmatic interface that provides
the functions of the lower two SNA layers (data link control and path control) and some
functions of the transmission control layer.
SNAXLink. A Tandem product comprised of both hardware and software that provides a
direct channel link between a Tandem system and several types of IBM systems.
SNAXLink can also be used with IBM channel-compatible systems that contain VTAM
and SNA support.
SPI. See Subsystem Programmatic Interface (SPI)
.
SSCP. See System Services Control Point (SSCP)
.
SSCP-LU session. In SNA, a session between an SSCP and a LU that enables the LU to
request the SSCP to help initiate LU-LU sessions.
SSCP-PU. In SNA, a session between an SSCP and a PU that allows the SSCP to send
requests to and receive status information from individual nodes in order to control the
network configuration.
SSCP-SSCP session. In SNA, a session between the SSCP in one domain and the SSCP in
another domain. An SSCP-SSCP session is used to initiate and terminate cross-domain
LU-LU sessions.
static configuration. Configuration of all SCF objects to be used in a session before the
SNAX/APC subsystem is started or before BINDs are sent or received by PLU or SLU.
Contrast with dynamic configuration.
STP. See service transaction program (STP)
.
subsystem. (1) A secondary or subordinate system, usually capable of operating
independently of or asynchronously with a controlling system. (2) A program or set of
processes that manages a cohesive set of Subsystem Control Facility (SCF) objects.
Each subsystem has a manager through which applications can request services by
issuing commands defined by that subsystem. See also subsystem manager
.
Subsystem Control Facility (SCF). A Tandem product that is used to configure, control, and
collect information about Tandem data communications subsystems. SCF can be used
to dynamically configure and manage the entities in the SNAX/XF, SNAX/APN, or
SNAX/CDF environments.
subsystem manager. A process that performs configuration and management functions for a
Subsystem Control Facility (SCF) subsystem.
Subsystem Programmatic Interface (SPI). A Tandem product that presents a common
message-based interface used to build and decode messages for communications
between requestors on sessions. Generally used for control and enquiry functions. See
also Event Management Service (EMS)
 and Distributed Systems Management (DSM).
