APCTAP Commands
APCTAP Commands
The following pages describe the APCTAP commands. The syntax in the formatter was
designed to be as brief as possible. You can omit spaces between a command verb and
its parameter. However, if you do omit spaces, be aware that the commands TOFILEX
and TO FILEX are not equivalent. The first sends trace output to a file named OFILEX;
the second sends trace output to a file named FILEX.
Table 5-1
lists the the APCTAP commands.
Commands and parameters are spelled in full in all examples in this section. Characters
enclosed in brackets, [ ], shown in the explanation of individual commands, are
optional.

Command Use
COUNT Display the number of records in a trace file
DISPLAY Write information about the trace input file to the trace output file
EXIT Exit from the trace analysis program
FC Edit or repeat the last command entered
FILTER Trace records with specific IDs; for example, only one specified LU or
session
FROM Designate the TRACE data file
GO Create a trace output file based on the range, select, and translate criteria
that are currently in effect.
HEX Suppress or enable processing of hexadecimal data
HTRACE Display all DATA and BIU trace records in a compact way
LENGTH Set the length of hexadecimal data for each record
LOAD Load APCLMAP tables
NEXT Format the next sequential trace record(s)
RANGE Set the first and last records in a range of trace records for which all
subsequent commands apply
RECORD Format one or more trace records
SELECT Select the record types to be formatted (or displayed on a terminal)
TO Designate the trace analysis program output location
TRANSLATE Change the translate options for DATA and BIU records
