Subsystem Control Facility (SCF) Overview
•
Stop or abort LU, PTNR-LU, PTNR-MODE, SESSION, TPI, or TPN objects either
in an orderly manner or abruptly, as needed
Subsystem Control Facility (SCF) Overview
The Subsystem Control Facility is used to configure, control, and collect information
about Tandem data communications subsystems. This section gives an overview of SCF
features and operation and of the objects on which SCF operates. This section also gives
the general format of SCF commands.
SCF provides an operator interface to an intermediate process called the Subsystem
Control Point (SCP). SCP in turn provides an interface to the various I/O processes
performing data communications operations and services. The relationship between
these elements is illustrated in Figure 6-1
The default SCP process known to the system
as $ZNET, provides access for application programs, whether local or remote, to
monitor and control a communications subsystem.
SCF automatically opens and closes SCP. In most cases, the default SCP is the only one
you will ever need. If you should need to establish an SCF session through a specific
SCP other than the default SCP, you can start additional SCPs by using either the SCF
RUN command or the Tandem Advanced Command Language (TACL) RUN command.
For more information about SCP, see the SCF Reference Manual for SCP.
Distributed Systems Management (DSM)
This subsection gives you a brief introduction to DSM. If you need more information
than is provided here, refer to the manual Introduction to Distributed Systems
Management (DSM).
DSM is a set of products that support integrated management of system and network
resources and operations. DSM architecture consists of the following:
•
Operations environment, in which applications and tools are available for you to
perform operations tasks
