Objects for SNAX/APC

Supported Naming Conventions for D-series or G-
series Systems
An object name is used whenever the object is referred to by SNAX/APC or other
Tandem processes. The syntax for each SCF command, described in Section 8, SCF
Commands for SNAX/APC, contains the variable object-spec, which represents the
object specification. The value object-spec is a combination of the values
object-type and object-name.
Table 7-1 shows each object type, the associated object name representation used in this
manual, and examples of object names. The table is ordered to reflect the object
hierarchy and the naming convention.
Each object type is described by syntax, and an example is given in the following pages.
The object types are described in alphabetical, rather than hierarchical, order.
Supported Naming Conventions for D-series or G-series Systems
SNAX/APC supports the following naming conventions for D-series or G-series
systems:
Remote process names of up to six characters (including a dollar sign, $)
Remote file, device, and volume names of up to eight characters (including $)
Remote processes with six-character names (including $) are accessible when both
systems are running D-series or G-series software.
Processes with six-character names, even if they are running as low-PIN processes, are
not accessible to remote C-series processes.
Note. Two SNAX/APC objects types have different names than those that appear in IBM
documentation: the PTNR-LU object type is equivalent to the IBM REMOTE_LU, and
PTNR-MODE is equivalent to the IBM (LU, Mode).
The attribute descriptions in Section 8, SCF Commands for SNAX/APC
, include IBM SNA
naming convention requirements.
