timer with the time delay specified in the SNAXRETRYTIMER attribute of the ADD
LU command, and retries the OPEN request after the timer expires.
The automatic retry continues until either the LU successfully reopens the underlying
SNAX access method or the number of retries has reached the limit set by
SNAXMAXRETRYCOUNT attribute of the ADD LU command. When the OPEN
request successfully completes, SNAX/APC places the LU and all of its subordinates
(which are currently in the STARTING state) into the STARTED state, resets the
SNAXRetryCount counter (an internal counter that tracks the retries by the local LU)
and continues normal operation.
While the local LU is performing automatic retry, an ABORT or STOP command places
the local LU in the STOPPED state and discontinues the retry. All pending TP-READY
requests are returned with the indication that the local LU has been aborted. A START
command places a local LU in the STARTING state and reactivates its automatic retry if
the LU is configured for automatic retry.
PROCESS States
The following describes the states of the PROCESS object.
1. The PROCESS object enters the STARTED state by the issuance of the TACL RUN
command or the PATHCOM START SERVER command.
2. The PROCESS object is terminated by a STOP command in TACL, a PATHCOM
STOP SERVER command, or an ABEND condition.
Figure 7-4
illustrates how the different requests and commands affect the state of the
PROCESS object.
PTNR-LU States
The following describes the states of the PTNR-LU object.
1. The PTNR-LU object may be created in one of two ways. You can either create the
PTNR-LU object by using the ADD PTNR-LU command, or allow it to be created
dynamically. If you create the PTNR-LU object it will be placed in the STOPPED
