IBM Manuals
In addition to the Tandem manuals listed in the two previous subsections, you may need
to refer to IBM documentation for information about SNA networking and
configuration. The following IBM manuals provide general information for SNA and
specific information for the LU 6.2 protocol that you may find useful:
•
Systems Network Architecture Concepts and Products presents an overview of an
SNA network, and is suggested reading for a first exposure to SNA.
•
Systems Network Architecture LU 6.2 Reference: Peer Protocols is the formal
definition of the LU 6.2 protocol, and is intended for system programmers and
others who need detailed information about LU 6.2. It contains specifications for all
the LU 6.2 finite state machines (FSMs) referenced by SNAX/APC, a description of
all the messages and message flows, and details about the function of each
component of a type 6.2 LU.
•
Systems Network Architecture Technical Overview continues the introduction begun
in the concepts and products manual. It explains how SNA functions combine to
provide communications facilities.
•
Systems Network Architecture Reference Summary provides a technical summary of
the structure and use of SNA and is an invaluable tool for anyone having to analyze
an SNA session. It contains descriptions of all messages that flow in SNA sessions.
This document updates some of the information listed in the format and protocol
manual.
•
Transactions Programmer’s Reference Manual for LU Type 6.2 describes the set of
functions—of both the base and option sets—that may be available in an
implementation of a type 6.2 LU. The syntax of each verb is described, as well as
all of the verbs types (such as basic and mapped, and the control operators) and the
return codes. It also provides conversation state matrices.
