SNALU
SNALU. SNAX Application Logical Unit. A SNAX/APN application protocol that provides
the functions of the lower two SNA layers (data link control and path control) and some
functions of the transmission control layer.
SNAX/APN Logon Manager (TLOGMGR). The module within SNAX/APN that handles
logon from a remote 3270 device. Works in cooperation with the Tandem Logon
Manager for IBM Systems (ILOGMGR).
SNAX/Creator-2 subsystem. A subsystem used with SNAX/XF or SNAX/APN. It is used
to initiate a Tandem application when a terminal on an IBM subarea network requests
logon to the application.
SPI. See Subsystem Programmatic Interface (SPI)
.
spooler. A set of programs that provides an interface between terminal users, application
programs, and the system print devices. The spooler receives print data from an
application program, stores the data on disk until the requested print device is available,
and then routes the data to the printer.
subarea network. Interconnected SNA subareas, their directly attached peripheral nodes, and
the transmission groups that connect them.
subdevice. A logical entity providing access to a physical connection, that is, to a
communications line. There may be one or many subdevices associated with a given
line or process.
Subsystem Control Facility (SCF). The interactive interface for configuring, controlling,
and collecting information from Tandem data communications subsystems.
Subsystem Programmatic Interface (SPI). A set of Guardian procedures, message formats,
and definition files that allows management applications to communicate directly with
subsystem processes, such as the PATHMON process, for configuration and control of
objects and for event management.
tag parameter. An optional procedure-call parameter you can use in nowait applications on
Tandem NonStop systems to match nowait I/O requests with completions. If there are
multiple I/O requests outstanding, the tag indicates which one has completed.
Tandem Logon Manager for IBM Systems (ILOGMGR). Tandem software that runs in
IBM systems to support SNAX/APN's extended logon facility. See also SNAX/APN
Logon Manager (TLOGMGR).
Tandem NonStop system. The standard system that includes at least two CPUs, multiple I/O
controllers, multiple data paths between CPUs and I/O controllers, and multiple power
supplies. Each controller is connected, through dual input-output ports, to the input-
output channels of two CPUs. Each channel can communicate with up to 256 peripheral
devices connected to each controller. All of these devices can transfer data
simultaneously.
TCP. See terminal control process (TCP)
.
