Organization of This Manual
The Extended Logon Facility (XLF)
Using XLF enables the following communications:
•
Dependent LU terminals and workstations in IBM networks can request LU-LU
sessions with (logon to) Tandem applications.
•
Tandem applications that emulate dependent LU devices can request LU-LU
sessions with (logon to) applications in IBM networks.
XLF requires Tandem supplied software to be installed and running in the IBM host.
The Enhanced Logon Facility (ELF)
ELF does not require Tandem supplied software to be installed and running in the IBM
host. Unlike XLF, using ELF only enables dependent LU terminals or workstations in
IBM networks to request LU-LU sessions with (logon to) Tandem applications. ELF
does not enable Tandem applications that emulate 3270 terminals to request LU-LU
sessions with (logon to) applications in IBM networks.
Organization of This Manual
This manual consists of the following sections and appendixes:
•
Section 1, Introduction to SNAX/APN High-Level APIs provides an overview of
the high-level APIs (3270 CRT and ITI) to SNAX/APN and the configuration
requirements for XLF and ELF.
•
Section 2, The CRT Interface describes the 3270 CRT interface.
•
Section 3, The ITI Interface describes the 3270 ITI interface.
•
Section 4, The SNALU Interface describes the SNAX/APN SNALU interface.
•
Appendix A, Migrating Applications From SNAX/XF and SNAX/CDF
to SNAX/APN lists the features that are supported in SNAX/XF or SNAX/CDF but
not in SNAX/APN.
•
Appendix B, Handling Errors in SNAX/APN Applications discusses error codes that
you may encounter when using SNAX/APN.
•
Appendix C, Logic Flows and Internal Formats When Using SNALU illustrates the
logic flows and internal formats that occur when you use the SNALU interface.
A glossary and an index are provided at the end of this manual.
