Tandem PLU Acquire
whether XLF (Extended Logon Facility) or ELF (Enhanced Logon Facility) is used
whether the Tandem application is acting as a primary LU (PLU) or a secondary LU
(SLU).
Tandem PLU Acquire
Tandem PLU acquire does not require XLF or ELF configuration, and neither feature
participates in session establishment. Before a Tandem PLU application can acquire an
LU-LU session with a terminal, printer, or workstation device in an IBM network, the
following conditions must be satisfied:
The SNAX /APN service manager must be started
A remote PU and LU must be defined to serve the device to be acquired (these are
defined subordinate to the SNAX/APN line)
In the IBM network, the device’s corresponding PU and LU and their supporting
communication link must have been defined and activated
The SNAX/APN line and the device’s remote PU and LU must be started
When these conditions are satisfied, the application can be started. As Figure 1-3
shows, the application issues an OPEN procedure call to the remote LU. A subsequent
data-transfer operation (a WRITE, READ, or WRITEREAD procedure call) causes
SNAX/APN to send a BIND request to the device. If the BIND request produces a
