Operational Characteristics
The following operational characteristics apply when using ITI:
Backspace and line delete are local terminal functions.
Control-Y (end of file) is simulated by the PA2 key. After pressing PA2, the string
EOF! is displayed on the screen.
Depending on the model of the device and the character set used, certain displayable
characters in ASCII code are not converted to their equivalent displayable characters
in EBCDIC code. For example, when Tandem applications interface to 3278
terminals, the following conversions take place:
The exclamation point character (!) may be converted to a vertical bar (|).
The left bracket character ([) is converted to a cent sign (¢).
The right bracket character (]) is converted to an exclamation point (!).
The caret character (^) is converted to an IBM logical NOT character ( ¬).
For more information on character conversion, see the IBM manual, IBM 3270
Information Display System: 3274 Control Unit Description and Programmer’s
Guide.
The 3277 display station does not have a backslash (\) key. When using a 3277
device, the FIELD MARK key is interpreted as a backslash, and a semicolon is
displayed on the screen.
