When you are willing to have your partner start a bracket, you can send the
HLS–FLOW–CONTROL (RT) message.
Stop Sending Messages (SM)—This variant directs SNAX/HLS to send an SNA
QEC request to the session partner. QEC is a message defined by SNA that is used
to request that no new messages (chains) be sent. This might be the first step in a
sequence of events that ends with closing the session, or it might be used because
the requester has temporarily run out of some resource. If the message is accepted
by the partner and the partner is obeying the rules of SNA, the issuer can assume
that once the current chain is terminated, the next information received from the
partner is the Sending Messages Quiesced data signal. In particular, the partner is
not allowed to begin new chains until your session permits this by sending a
Resume Messages signal.
Sending Messages Quiesced (QM)—This variant directs SNAX/HLS to send an
SNA QC request to the session partner. QC is a message defined by SNA that is
used to confirm a previously received request to stop sending messages. After
you send this message, no partner data can be sent until a Resume Sending
Messages signal is received.
Resume Sending Messages (RM)—This variant directs SNAX/HLS to send an
SNA RELQ request to the session partner. RELQ is a message defined by SNA
that is used to allow a previously quiesced partner to resume sending new
messages.
