SNAX/HLS Configuration and Control Manual

Objects and Attributes
Using the HLSRDT Utility
4–38 104705 Tandem Computers Incorporated
BIND-TYPE
This BIND attribute has the possible keywords NEGOTIABLE or NONNEGOTIABLE.
The default is NONNEGOTIABLE.
TYPE identifies the type of BIND image that is sent. Negotiable binds are used when
the secondary LU is expected to modify the BIND information and return, in the BIND
response, the updated values. If the resultant values are unacceptable to the primary,
the session should be unbound. SNAX/HLS can issue negotiable BINDs and handle
the responses, but it cannot receive negotiable BINDs.
BIS-SENT
This BIND attribute has the value type
yesno
. The default value is NO.
The BIS-SENT option is used only for LU 6.1 and indicates that the previous
incarnation of the session concluded with a BIS command. This option is not currently
interpreted by SNAX/HLS.
BRKT-RESET
This BIND attribute has the keywords BETB or INB. The default value is INB.
BRKT-RESET specifies, along with other indicators, certain properties of bracket
usage. If the BETB value is used, it states that brackets will be used on the session, and
also that the reset state for brackets is between brackets. The exact meaning of that
statement is beyond the scope of this manual. If the INB value is used and brackets are
being used, as is indicated by either the PRI-SEND-EB or SEC-SEND-EB flags being
YES, then the reset state for brackets is in brackets.
BRKT-TERM
This BIND attribute has the possible keywords UNCONDITIONAL or CONDITIONAL.
The default value is UNCONDITIONAL.
BRKT-TERM specifies the conditions under which the bracket state is reset. The flag is
meaningful only if brackets are being used. When the CONDITIONAL option is
specified, and the chain carrying the end-bracket indicator requests a definite
response, brackets are terminated upon the positive response. When the
UNCONDITIONAL option is specified, or if the end-bracket chain does not request a
definite response, the bracket is terminated when the end chain is received and does
not depend upon the response.
CONTENTION-WINNER
This BIND attribute has the possible keywords PRIMARY or SECONDARY. The default
is SECONDARY.
CONTENTION-WINNER specifies which partner wins when there is contention. The
option is meaningful only for half-duplex contention sessions, or for half-duplex flip-
flop sessions that do or do not use brackets. This option is also meaningful for half-
duplex flip-flop sessions that do not use brackets.
