SNAX/HLS Configuration and Control Manual

Starting SNAX/HLS
Operating SNAX/HLS
5–2 104705 Tandem Computers Incorporated
Format of RUN HLSOBJ
Command
The RUN HLSOBJ command starts the SNAX/HLS server. In most installations, the
only people who use this command are the control operators and system programmers
responsible for installing and running SNAX/HLS. This subsection explains the
command in detail.
RUN HLSOBJ [/ <option> /] [ <param> [ , <param> ] ... ]
option
is one or more of the standard run options described in the Tandem Advanced
Command Language (TACL) Reference Manual (Volume 1). Their syntax and
meanings are described below.
IN
file-name
specifies a disk file name designating a valid RDT object for use by this
SNAX/HLS process. This is a required entry on the RUN command. After
SNAX/HLS initialization, the name of the RDT in storage can be viewed with
the HLSCOM PEEK command.
OUT
file-name
specifies a file name (disk file, output device, or process name). This may be
selected to receive SNAX/HLS log messages (see “SNAX/HLS Configuration
Parameters” in this section for a description of the LOG startup parameter).
The default is the OUT file of the command interpreter that starts the
SNAX/HLS process.
NAME
process-name
assigns a name to the SNAX/HLS process. This is a required parameter of the
RUN command.
LIB
file-name
designates your installation’s library of customization routines. HUXOBJ is a
dummy library distributed as part of SNAX/HLS. If your installation does
not use customization routines, and SNAX/HLS has been installed in your
system through the installation procedures, the needed procedures are in the
default user library. In this case, you need not specify the dummy library and
can omit the LIB parameter entirely.
SWAP
volume-name
specifies where the stack space will be swapped and defines the swap volume
of the backup process.
