K-Records (Internal Events). K-records record unusual conditions within SNAX/HLS.
Starting in column 7 is a code defining whether the event is to be logged, an EMS
event is to be generated (and if so to which collector), or both, according to the
following:
I No event, no log message.
L Log message only.
E EMS event only, generated to the primary EMS collector.
E n EMS event only, generated to the alternate collector number n, where n can
have the value 1, 2, or 3. Thus, if an EMS event is to be generated to alternate
collector number 1 (for example), the code appears as E1. Only this collector
then gets the message.
B Both a log message is generated and an EMS event is sent to the primary
EMS collector.
B n Both a log message and an EMS event are generated. The EMS event is
generated to alternate EMS collector number n. Thus, if a log message is to
be generated, and an EMS event is generated to collector number 2 (for
example), the code appears as B2. EMS collector number 2 is the only
collector that receives the message.
Some K-records have a logging disposition Sn. This reflects an internal notation that
facilitates the referral to the S-records to obtain a logging disposition based on the
relevant SNA sense code. It is recommended that the logging dispositions of such K-
records not be changed, in favour of modifying the logging dispositions of the S-
records based upon the pertinent sense code (see S-records below). The only valid
values for the logging disposition of such K-records are the dispositions discussed
above, and the S<n> disposition in place when the SNAX/HLS product was received.
The logging code is terminated with a space. Following this space is message text,
included for clarity only.
S-Records (SNA Sense Codes). S-records provide the interpretation of SNA sense codes.
Starting in column 7 is a numeric field, terminated by a blank, that defines the
RETRY-ACTION-CODE value to be delivered in the verbs whose R-record contains the
S indicator. Following this field is the logging field as described above. Natural
language text follows.
R-Records (Return Codes). R-records have a blank-terminated integer field, starting in
column 7, that defines the RETRY-ACTION-CODE value to be delivered in the verb
response. Alternately, a single uppercase letter can be used to indicate that the
SYSTEM-ERROR-CODE is either an SNA sense code value (S) or a file-system error
code (G). In these two cases, the RETRY-ACTION-CODE is derived from the S or G
records, respectively. Natural language text follows.
G-Records ( File-System Codes). G-records have a blank-terminated integer field, starting
in column 7, that defines the RETRY-ACTION-CODE value to be delivered in any verb
response whose R-record contains the G indicator. Following the
RETRY-ACTION-CODE is a space followed by a field whose function is reserved for
internal use. Natural language text follows.
