SNAX/HLS Management Programming Manual

1 Introduction
104708 Tandem Computers Incorporated 1–1
SNAX High-Level Support (SNAX/HLS) consists of several programs and support
files that jointly form a subsystem. The purpose of this subsystem is to allow easy
communication between Tandem application programs and a wide range of SNA
devices and software products (including software running in an IBM host).
The management programming interfaces to SNAX/HLS permit control of the
SNAX/HLS subsystem. The use of these tools allows programmatic control of and
access to a wide variety of functions within SNAX/HLS.
Objects Controlled by
the SNAX/HLS
Subsystem
Using the management programming interfaces to the SNAX/HLS subsystem, you
can control, inquire about, and monitor the SNAX/HLS process itself and the sessions
managed by the process.
SNAX/HLS
Management
Functions
You can manage the objects that make up the SNAX/HLS subsystem by:
Aborting a session
Obtaining attribute values of the SNAX/HLS process
Changing attribute values of the SNAX/HLS process
Obtaining lists of the objects known to the subsystem
Obtaining information about the current opens of the SNAX/HLS process or the
opens that have allocated a particular session
Switching the SNAX/HLS process between the primary and backup processors
Sending a text message to an application
Obtaining statistical information about the SNAX/HLS process
Reinitializing the statistics counters
Obtaining status information about the SNAX/HLS process or a session
Initiating, modifying, or terminating the trace mode on the SNAX/HLS process or
a session
