Template LUs
Thus, if LOCALSNAME in the SNAX/APN configuration specifies mytacl, the
corresponding APPL object in the Creator-2 configuration would be:
ADD APPL $crea.C-mytacl, METHOD TACL
(For more information about Creator-2 configuration, see the SNAX Creator-2
Configuration and Control Manual.)
When you define a template LU under a PU, ELF attempts to create the dynamic LU
and establish the LU-LU session using the PU under which the template LU is defined.
ELF succeeds in its attempt if:
That PU is currently active.
The MAXLUS limits have not been exceeded for that PU. For rules and
considerations concerning MAXLUS limits, see MAXLUS on page 14-34.
Only if the PU is not currently active or if the MAXLUS limits are exceeded does ELF
attempt to establish the session under the current network node server PU; that is, the
PU currently supporting the CP-CP session.
Load Balancing
You can create more than one template LU with the same LOCALSNANAME under a
single PU. You can also create several template LUs with the same LOCALSNANAME
and distribute them among different PUs.
Distributing LUs among different PUs provides automatic load balancing. ELF performs
a round-robin search for template LUs to use for sessions. The search always begins
with the template LU following the last template LU selected.
You can implement weighted load balancing by adding an unequal number of template
LUs under two or more PUs. For example, suppose you decide to create three
template LUs with the same LOCALSNANAME. If you subordinate two of these LUs to
#PUA and only one LU to #PUB, ELF establishes twice as many sessions under #PUA
as it does under #PUB until the total number of LUs, both added and dynamically
created, reaches the MAXLUS limit for #PUA. The number of sessions under #PUB
then continues to increase until the MAXLUS limit for #PUB is reached.
You can also achieve load balancing among several Creator-2 processes by specifying
a different APPL name in the CREATOR attribute of each template LU.
ELF Configuration Examples
PLU accept using ELF requires the following types of configuration:
SNAX Creator-2 configuration (for CRT or ITI applications)
SNAX/APN End Node configuration
Note. Each template LU under the same LINE must have a unique SNANAME attribute
specification, even though that specification has no operational meaning.
