Line Attributes
SAPINFO is only line attribute that is unique to SNAX/APN LAN configurations,
including Token-Ring. This attribute has five subattributes: DFC, DFS, DFT, MAXLS,
and SAP.
In its simplest form, SAPINFO is considered an optional line attribute. If you do not
specify SAPINFO when you add a Token-Ring line, a SAP called SAP %H04 is added
with default values for the subattributes DFC, DFS, DFT, and a MAXLS value equal to
the value of MAXPUS. However, if you are considering using more than one SAP per
line, you must specify this attribute in your configuration. Up to 63 SAPs may be
configured per line.
For each SAP, you must supply the SAP value (a multiple of 4 in the range %H04 to
%HFC), and the maximum number of link stations (PUs) to be defined for that SAP.
Optionally, you may also override the default settings for data aggregation from the
controller to SNAX/APN. Data aggregation is used to optimize the relay of traffic
between SNAX/APN and the PAM I/O process.
Data received from the ring is stored in a buffer. Three settings determine when data is
forwarded.
DFT is the controller's data forward time. The controller stops aggregating inbound
data into one buffer after the time specified by DFT has passed.
DFS is the controller's data forward size. The controller stops aggregating inbound
data into one buffer when DFS number of bytes have been collected.
DFC is the controller's data forward count. The controller stops aggregating
inbound data into one buffer when DFC number of frames have already been
aggregated.
