File Transfer in the Data Center
A significant number of NonStop systems are co-located with IBM mainframes in the
corporate data center. A typical requirement is for high-speed connectivity to allow bulk
file transfer between HP and IBM equipment. Often, Ethernet is used as the link
between mainframes because of its throughput potential. Figure 10-1 shows a major
difference between token-ring and Ethernet. Ethernet frames travel between stations
without having to be examined by every other intervening station as on a token-ring.
