Operating on Multiple Objects
SNAX/XF and SNAX/APN do not support wild-card characters (* or ?) in object names.
However, most SCF commands for SNAX/XF and SNAX/APN allow you to specify
multiple object names in a single command.
APPL Objects
An APPL object allows an application process of a given type to open the service-
manager process.
SNAX/XF APPL objects include the SNAX Creator and SNAX Creator-2 processes
(used with SNAX/XF LU Network Services, or LUNS), applications that communicate
with the LUNS and Communications Network Management (CNM) interfaces, and
SNAX/CM processes.
APPL objects apply to SNAX/APN only when the extended logon facility (XLF) is used.
An APPL object allows the SNAX Creator-2 process to open the service-manager
process.
No more than 100 APPL objects can be configured under one SUBSYS object (one
service manager); this limit includes both SNAX/APN and SNAX/XF APPL objects if a
service manager is used to manage both products. No objects are subordinate to
objects of type APPL.
Naming Conventions
The format of the APPL object name is as follows:
service-manager-name
is the unique name of a service manager. The default $SSCP or, when using
multiple service managers, the object name is $SSCPn, where n is a number
assigned at the time of configuration.
subdevice-name
is the unique subdevice name to be used by an application to open a service
manager. The name consists of 1 through 7 alphanumeric characters, the first of
which must be a letter.
Note. An APPL object does not need to be configured for a LUNS application that is a
Pathway process.
