Object States
For example, the following are valid APPL object names:
$SSCP.#CMAPPL1
$SSCP1.#CNMA
$SSCP.#CREATE
Object States
APPL objects have a different set of states than do other types of SNAX/XF and
SNAX/APN objects. An APPL object can be in one of three states: INACTIVE,
CONNECTED, or OPENED. These object states are described later in this section.
LINE Objects
SNAX LINE objects represent either an SDLC line or an X.25 virtual circuit. There are
two kinds of lines: primary and secondary. Primary lines connect a NonStop system to
SNA peripheral nodes. Secondary lines connect a NonStop system to an SNA host
computer.
Each LINE object name defined through SCF must match the corresponding line-
handler name defined through the PROFILE object.
Naming Conventions
The format of LINE object names is as follows:
name
is the name of the line and consists of from 1 through 7 alphanumeric characters,
the first of which must be a letter.
For example, the following are valid LINE object names:
$SNAP1
$SNAS1
$APN1
These examples illustrate a naming convention commonly used for LINE objects: the
letter P in the name identifies a primary line, and S identifies a secondary line.
Object States
A LINE object can be in one of six states: ABORTING, DIAGNOSING, STARTED,
STARTING, STOPPED, or STOPPING. These object states are described later in this
section.
