Object States
Object States
A SESSION object is always in the STARTED state. This state is described later in this
section.
SUBSYS Object
The SUBSYS object type is used when attributes of a SNAX/XF and SNAX/APN
service-manager process need to be added or modified. It is also used for inquiry
about the subsystem and its subordinate objects, as with the INFO, STATS, or
STATUS commands. With the subordinate option (SUB), the SUBSYS object can be
used to start, stop, modify, or inquire about objects under the control of the specified
service manager.
Multiple service managers can reside in a single NonStop node; each service manager
process controls its own network configuration. Using multiple services managers
allows the user to easily:
Increase the capacity of the network by configuring more lines, PUs, and LUs
Provide faster configuration and start-up times
Improve operations management
Logically group different business functions
Isolate areas of the network for testing, installation, and upgrades
Dynamically delete and add a single service manager process without
impacting other service manager process in the network
Naming Conventions
The supported SUBSYS object name is either $SSCP (the default) or, when using
multiple service managers, the object name is $SSCPn, where n is a number assigned
at initial configuration.
Object States
The SUBSYS object can be in either the STARTED or the STOPPED state. These
object states are described later in this section.
Object-State Descriptions
Each SNAX/XF and SNAX/APN object has a state associated with it. When an object
is started, stopped, or aborted, its state changes. For example, when a PU object is
successfully started, its state changes from STOPPED to STARTING to STARTED.
This object state is displayed under the returned heading State when you issue the
STATUS command for an object. You can also specify one of these states in the SEL
option, to limit the objects to which an ABORT, INFO, or DELETE command applies.
