ASSOCIATESUBDEV
subordinate PU or with the line handler controlling a line to which switched floating PUs
are temporarily subordinated. The X25AM SU object must already be configured. The
process name and subdevice name must be unique for the pool of PUs under the
control of one line-handler process.
When this attribute is specified for an X.25 line, the following restrictions apply:
You cannot remove this attribute by using the ALTER LINE command. To remove
this attribute, you must delete the line and add it again.
If any subordinate PUs have been added to a line, you cannot add this attribute by
using the ALTER LINE command.
If ASSOCIATESUBDEV is specified for a line, then no PUs can be defined
subordinate to that line. If the line has permanently subordinated PUs defined, the
ASSOCIATESUBDEV attribute may be specified either using the ADD or ALTER
PU command rather than the ADD LINE command, or by specifying the PORT
parameter in SNAX/CM commands.
For switched floating PUs subordinate to X.25 lines, this attribute cannot be specified
in an ADD PU or ALTER PU command; instead, it must be specified in the ADD LINE
command for the line to which the switched floating PUs will be temporarily
subordinate.
This attribute is required for PUs configured on a line that is not managed by
SNAX/CM. When a primary or secondary switched line is managed by SNAX/CM, the
ASSOCIATESUBDEV attribute is optional and can be specified instead using the
SNAX/CM PORT parameter.
Specifying ASSOCIATESUBDEV for a permanently subordinate PU assigns the port
(the X25AM SU object, the TLAMPAM SESSION object, or the QIO process and
session ID) to the PU. This PU-to-port assignment continues until the PU is deleted or
until the value of ASSOCIATESUBDEV is changed with the ALTER command.
PU selection is made either at the time of call-in using validation for the call address or
XID string (CALLVALIDATE CALLADDR) or before the call-in operation by specifying
the ASSOCIATESUBDEV attribute for PUs assigned to permanently subordinated
lines. XID validation is not possible for call-in operations on secondary lines using
multiple ports because the PUID is not sent from the primary PU to the secondary PU.
For more information about how the ASSOCIATESUBDEV attribute is handled when
using the PORT parameter in SNAX/CM ENABLE and CONNECT commands, see the
SNAX Connection Manager (SNAX/CM) Manual.
This attribute can be removed by using the ALTER PU command and specifying a null
string (" ") as its value. Furthermore, the attribute cannot be removed if the line type is
Ethernet.
