Attributes for SNAX/XF and SNAX/APN
SNAX/XF and SNAX/APN Configuration and Management Manual—425836-006
14-14
CHARACTERSET
The following values are valid for the CDI attribute:
When ENHANCED is specified, the CDI function might not be transparent to an
application if the application is dependent on the CDI bit being set in a single RU.
In this case, either use the NORMAL option or change the application so that the
ENHANCED option works.
Although setting of the CDI bit is supported only for the CRT protocol, this attribute can
be specified when the PROTOCOL attribute of the LU is specified as ITI. While the ITI
protocol is being used, the CDI bit is not set. After an application makes a
programmatic switch to the CRT protocol, the CDI bit is set.
CHARACTERSET
CHARACTERSET specifies whether SNAX/XF and SNAX/APN-EN are to perform
character translation for permanently subordinated LUs. When applied to the
TLOGMGR LU, this attribute is used for all remote LUs that the TLOGMGR creates.
The following values are valid for the CHARACTERSET attribute:
NORMAL specifies that the CDI is generated when an application in the send
state issues a READ procedure call or when an application issues a
WRITE procedure call to send an outbound data stream to the
device and the 3270 commands are read commands. In the latter
case, the CDI is sent on a null RU.
ENHANCED specifies that the CDI is to be sent with the outbound data when
keyboard restore is indicated in bit 6 of the 3270 write control
character (WCC) field. When keyboard restore is indicated, the
sender is requesting to be placed in the receive state to allow the
receiver to send.
SPECIAL specifies that the CDI can be sent when an application issues a
WRITEREAD procedure call.
Default: See following description
Value: ASCII | EBCDIC | KATAKANA
Objects: LINE, LU
ASCII specifies that no translation is to be performed on the data received
from or destined for the application. This implies that characters are
in ASCII format.
EBCDIC specifies that data from the application is translated from ASCII to
EBCDIC, and that data destined for the application is translated from
EBCDIC to ASCII
KATAKANA specifies that translation from EBCDIC Katakana to HP NonStop
Katakana is to take place. The value KATAKANA can be specified for
the LU only. It cannot be specified on an ADD or ALTER LINE
command.
