14-19
DBCS
DBCS
The following values are valid for the DBCS attribute:
IBMKANJI or 1 specifies that SNAX/XF performs HP NonStop Kanji/IBM Kanji
translation; it also signifies that each transition from single-byte data to double-byte
data and from double-byte data to single-byte data causes the start of a new field.
IBMKANJI should be specified for the IBM 3278-52 display station and for IBM
3283-52/53 printers.
Either the keyword IBMKANJI or the number 1 can be specified. (SCF also accepts
“IBM” as a pseudonym for IBMKANJI.) Note that when you specify IBMKANJI,
CHARACTERSET is automatically set to KATAKANA, or changes to KATAKANA if
it has already been set; thus, you need not explicitly specify the CHARACTERSET
attribute.
IBMMIXED or 2 specifies that SNAX/XF performs HP NonStop Kanji/IBM Kanji
translation; it also signifies that double-byte and single-byte character data are
mixed within the same field. IBMMIXED should be specified for IBM 5578-001/002
display stations and for the following IBM printers: 5227-11, 5553-B01/B02, 5557-
B01, and 5577-B01. Either the keyword IBMMIXED or the number 2 can be
specified. (SCF also accepts MIXED as a pseudonym for IBMMIXED.)
JEFKANJI or 3 specifies that SNAX/XF performs HP NonStop Kanji/Fujitsu JEF
Kanji translation and that double-byte and single-byte data are mixed in the same
field. JEFKANJI should be specified for Fujitsu F-6652-A/C display stations and for
Fujitsu F-6654 printers, models C1, C2, C3, D1, D2, and D3. Either the keyword
JEFKANJI or the number 3 can be specified. SCF also accepts JEF as a
pseudonym for JEFKANJI.)
IBMADMIX or 4 specifies that SNAX/XF or SNAX/APN-EN will accept data from
the application that is a mixture of single-byte and double-byte formats.
NONE or 0 specifies that the LU does not use the DBCS feature and that no Kanji
translation occurs. Either the keyword NONE or the number 0 can be specified.
For SNAX/XF:
DBCS specifies the double-byte character set (DBCS) to be used with this LU. The
DBCS attribute permits applications on the NonStop node to employ the double-byte
Kanji character set when communicating with a variety of SNA devices. SNAX/XF
translates HP NonStop Kanji, which supports all the displayable characters of the JIS
C-6226 character set, into the Kanji code understood by the device.
