For IBM 3278-A1K/A2K display stations, SNAX/XF performs HP NonStop
Kanji/EBCDIC Kanji translation on all Kanji data sent to the terminal (note that the user
cannot enter Kanji data using a 3278 terminal). For IBM 5578-001/002 display stations,
SNAX/XF performs HP NonStop Kanji/EBDIC Kanji translation on all Kanji data sent to
and received from the terminal. For Fujitsu F-6652- A/C display stations, SNAX/XF
performs HP NonStop Kanji/Fujitsu Kanji translation on all Kanji data sent to and
received from the terminal. For IBM 32 83-52/53, 5227-11, 5553-B01/B02, 5557-B01,
and 5577-B01 printers, SNAX/XF translates into IBM Kanji all HP NonStop Kanji data
sent by the application. For Fujitsu F-6654 printers, SNAX/XF translates HP NonStop
Kanji into Fujitsu Kanji.
For SNAX/APN–EN:
No Kanji translation is performed in SNAX/APN-EN. Instead, the translation is
performed by applications such as the Pathway TCP or Spooler. These applications
determine what translation is required by issuing a Setmode 144 to the LUs subdevice.
The following values are returned in the Setmode 144 response, last params[1], based
on the value of the LU’s CHARACTERSET and DBCS settings:
DEVTYPE
DEVTYPE specifies the device type and model number of the terminal containing the
IBM LU.
This attribute is required only when the LU is subordinate to a primary line, and then
only when the LU’s protocol is CRT, PRT, or ITI. The DEVTYPE attribute has no
