RECSIZE (LU Objects)
RECSIZE (LU Objects)
When applied to an LU, RECSIZE specifies the length, in bytes, of a terminal or printer
line, CRT screen, or RU, depending on the PROTOCOL attribute. For SNAX/APN, the
RECSIZE attribute is valid only for LUs whose PROTOCOL attribute is CRT or ITI: that
is, acquired remote LUs.
The following PROTOCOL dependencies apply:
If the PROTOCOL attribute specifies CRT, the RECSIZE attribute specifies the
CRT screen or printer buffer size.
If the PROTOCOL attribute specifies PRT, the RECSIZE attribute specifies the
printer line length plus 5 bytes.
If the PROTOCOL attribute specifies ITI, the RECSIZE attribute specifies the
terminal line length plus 16 bytes.
If the PROTOCOL attribute specifies SNALU, the definition of RECSIZE is more
complex and follows these rules:
For LUs subordinate to a primary line, RECSIZE specifies the SNA RU length.
For LUs subordinate to a secondary line, RECSIZE specifies the SNA RU length if
byte 11 of the SNA BIND request is zero. If byte 11 is not zero, the value of
RECSIZE is ignored.
RECSIZE (PU Objects)
When applied to a PU, RECSIZE specifies the maximum size of PIUs that a particular
PU can process. The value of this attribute must be:
Default: 1024
Value: 1 - 15996 depending on line type (See RECSIZE (LINE Objects)
 on
page 14-49
Objects: LU
Note. For LUs using the ITI and PRT protocols, the DEVICEINFO and DEVICEINFO2
procedure calls return a record size of one less than that specified in the RECSIZE attribute of
the ADD LU or ALTER LU commands. For LUs using the CRT or SNALU protocols, the
RECSIZE attribute as specified is returned.
Default: Line RECSIZE
Value: 16 - 4094 for PUs on X.25 and SDLC lines
16 - 4466 for PUs on 4 Mb/s Token-Ring lines
16 - 15988 for PUs on 16 Mb/s Token-Ring lines
16 - 1496 for PUs on Ethernet lines
Objects: PU
