SWITCHED
SWITCHED
SWITCHED specifies whether the line is a switched line or a nonswitched line. ON
indicates that the line is switched. OFF indicates that the line is nonswitched.
For SDLC lines (line type 58,5 (SDLC)), the term “switched” refers to physical
switching. For X.25 lines, a switched line uses X25AM switched virtual circuits (SVCs),
and a nonswitched line uses X25AM permanent virtual circuits (PVCs).
Switched lines using SDLC allow the following:
Switched-line modem control
Exchanges of the XID command and response frames
Temporary subordination of switched floating PUs and LUs
SNAX processing for primary lines using SDLC is as follows:
1. If AUTOACCEPT ON is specified, the line handler raises DTR on the modem when
the START command is issued. However, if AUTOACCEPT OFF is specified, the
first opener of the line must issue CONTROL 11 in order to raise DTR on the
modem.
2. If SPXID OFF is specified, the line handler sends XID to the remote PU using the
SDLC broadcast address (%hFF). Otherwise, the PU ADDRESS is sent.
3. The remote PU responds to XID with its own SDLC address and unique node ID.
SNAX processing for secondary lines using SDLC is as follows:
1. If the AUTOACCEPT ON is specified, the line handler raises DTR on the modem
when the START command is issued. However, if AUTOACCEPT OFF is specified,
the first opener of the line must issue CONTROL 11 in order to raise DTR on the
modem.
2. The line handler waits for XID from the host.
3. SNAX responds to XID with the PUIDBLK, PUIDNUM, and ADDRESS provided
through the ADD PU command. This address must be the same as the ADDR
operand for the PU as defined in the NCP system generation and the VTAM
configuration file (SYS1.VTAMLST). The PUIDBLK and PUIDNUM attributes must
match the IDBLK and IDNUM operands as defined in the NCP system generation
and the VTAM configuration file (SYS1.VTAMLST).
The following considerations also apply to switched lines using SDLC:
CONTROL 11 must be issued to enable the receipt of incoming calls unless the
AUTOACCEPT attribute has been specified as ON.
