TIMEOUT
TIMEOUT
TIMEOUT specifies the retransmit time-out value. The TIMEOUT attribute defines the
amount of time a SNAX line handler waits for a valid SDLC frame in response to a
READ or AUTOPOLL (primary line only) operation. SNAX uses the TIMEOUT value to
set the T1 timer. When the T1 timer fails, SNAX retries the failing operation until the
count defined in the RETRIES attribute is exhausted. If this occurs, the line is declared
inoperable and all sessions are terminated.
When specified for a secondary line, any TIMEOUT value less than 5 seconds is
converted by the line handler to a value of 2 minutes.
For secondary lines, the TIMEOUT and RETRIES attributes work together and should
be defined with values that depend on the specification of RETRIES in the LINE
definition statements that define the HP NonStop entities in the host’s NCP generation.
These restrictions ensure that, in the event of line failures, the T1 timer does not time
out before the host declares a loss of communication with the NonStop system.
For a secondary line on a NonStop system interfacing with NCP and VTAM, you must
specify a value for TIMEOUT such that, when multiplied by the value in RETRIES, the
product is greater than the product produced by multiplying the “t” and “n” values
specified in the RETRIES operand of the HP line’s corresponding LINE definition
statement in the host’s NCP generation.
TIMEOUT does not apply to Token-Ring lines.
TLOGMGR (Remote LU) - for SNAX/APN Only
TLOGMGR specifies which TLOGMGR is to be used to establish a session with a
remote LU. This is an optional attribute used with the SNALU interface.
TLOGMGR is required when a session is initiated by an HP application acting as an
SLU (that is, the application sends an INIT-SELF request; that is, in SLU Acquire
mode), or by an IBM terminal requesting a session with an HP application process
(when the terminal is acting as the SLU; that is, in PLU Accept mode). In an SLU-
initiated session, the LOCALSNANAME of the SNALU LU must match that specified in
the BIND request.
Default: 5 seconds
Value: 0.01 seconds - 5 minutes, 27.67 seconds
Objects: LINE
Default: None
Value: Name of a HP NonStop subdevice name of a local LU representing a
TLOGMGR, beginning with a pound sign (#), in the format
#tlog-name
