TWS
TWS
TWS specifies whether or not two-way simultaneous communication can occur. ON
indicates two-way simultaneous communication. OFF indicates two-way alternate
communication.
If TWS ON is specified, two-way, simultaneous communication can occur on the line. If
TWS OFF is specified, only two-way, alternate (TWA) communication can occur.
The following considerations apply for this attribute:
This attribute applies only to primary lines. If it is specified for a secondary line, the
attribute is ignored. A SNAX secondary line can receive both TWS and TWA
transmissions from the host and does not need to be configured to do so.
A value of TWS ON implies that both a primary and secondary SDLC station are
transmitting and receiving data at the same time. However, this is only possible
when full-duplex modems are employed; the line must be defined as a full-duplex
line (using the ADD and/or ALTER commands).
TWS OFF implies that only one station can transmit data at a time.
TWS OFF is analogous to the attribute TWA (two-way alternate) communication.
If DUPLEX HALF is specified and the value of the TWS attribute is ON, SNAX
automatically resets the value to TWS OFF.
The default value is OFF.
TWS does not apply to Token-Ring lines.
TYPE (LU Objects) - for SNAX/XF
When applied to an LU, TYPE specifies the device type (always 14) and subtype for
the LU. The value specified with this attribute corresponds to the IBM secondary LU
type. The valid integer values for the LU types are as follows:
Default: OFF
Value: ON | OFF
Objects: LINE
Default: None
Value: (14, integer), where integer is { 0 | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 21 }
Objects: LU
0 provides a generalized user-definable, process-to-process communications
capability for applications. Some of the devices supported are as follows:
3600 Financial Communication System
3630 Plant Communication System
