Individual Trace-Record Descriptions
first identify whether the trace is a service manager trace or a line trace. This is
indicated by the device type and subtype in the trace-file header record.
is the verbal identifier corresponding to the trace-record subtype, which further
qualifies the type of information contained in the trace record. This field is included
only for trace-record types that have subtypes. The possible subtypes depend on
the trace-record type.
is additional information from the trace record, translated into meaningful text. This
information may be several lines long.
is the contents of the trace record in hexadecimal format, beginning after the
general PTrace header information (date, time, delta time, record number, type,
and subtype). This field is included only for trace records that contain data.
Only as much information as was stored in the trace record is displayed; if the
RECSIZE parameter set in the TRACE command when the trace was made was
not large enough to contain all the data sent or received, the data in the trace
record is truncated.
is the ASCII form of the data in . This field is included only for trace records that
contain data. If the trace record contains NonStop system data, such as HP
NonStop system file names and SCF commands, you can read the HP NonStop
data in this area.
is the EBCDIC form of the data in . This field is included only for trace records
that contain data.
Individual Trace-Record Descriptions
The remainder of this section describes the information contained in the display of
each type of SNAX trace record. The trace-record descriptions are arranged for
lookup based on the first few lines of each trace-record display.
Line-handler trace records (trace records resulting from traces of SNAX lines) are
described first, followed by service manager trace records. Within each of these two
main categories, the trace-record descriptions are given in order by type number; the
service manager trace records are distinguished from the line-handler records by the
prefix “SVM” in the subsection headings. Under each type number, if there are multiple
subtypes with significantly different descriptions, these are given in alphabetical order
by subtype identifier.
Each trace-record description begins with an example trace record of that type and
subtype, followed by an explanation of each field in the record. In these examples, the
first line of the trace-record header is omitted, since that line (containing the date
stamp, timestamp, delta time, and trace-record number) has identical meaning for all
types of trace records. Each example is shown starting with line 2 of the display, which
identifies the trace-record type.
