flow indicator bit is 1. The origin address field is 2, the destination address field is
1, and the sequence number is 0.
REQ FMD FI BC EC DR1I
is a symbolic representation of the contents of the request/response header (RH),
using the standard IBM abbreviations. This line is interpreted as follows:
REQ, +RSP, or -RSP indicates a request, positive response, or negative response,
respectively.
FMD, NC, DFC, or SC indicates the request/response unit (RU) category.
The abbreviations that follow are as described in the IBM Systems Network
Architecture: Formats manual. If an abbreviation for a bit field is present in the
display, the corresponding bit value is 1; if the abbreviation is absent, the bit value
is 0.
The RH shown above is for a request in the function management data (FMD)
category. The format indicator, begin chain, and end chain bits are set to 1. The
definite response 1 indicator is also set to 1. All other bit fields are 0.
Sense: nnnnnnnn
if present, gives the hexadecimal value of the sense data in the RU. (In this
example, which is a request, no sense data is present).
request or RU: nnnnnn
if present, gives additional information from the beginning of the RU. If the PIU
contains an SNA request (or a response to an SNA request) such as ACTPU,
ACTLU, or BIND, the abbreviation for the request appears here. If the PIU
contains invalid or unrecognized data, as in this example, the display shows RU:
followed by the first six bytes of the RU in hexadecimal. If this is a response that
includes sense data, or if the PIU contains FMD data and the FI bit is not set, this
field does not appear.
2D00 0102 0000 0B80 ...
is the contents of the PIU, starting with the transmission header (TH).
2D00 0102 0000
is the TH.
0B80 00
is the RH.
71 0306 ...
is the RU.
