SNAX Helper Applications
SNAX Helper Applications
SNAX helper applications interface to the SNAX service manager. They include:
LUNS applications
Creator processes
CNM applications
SNAX Connection Manager (SNAX/CM) processes
LUNS Applications
On SNAX/XF primary lines and SNAX/APN XLF or ELF configurations, the SNAX
service manager’s LU network services (LUNS) interface handles network services
requests by using the SET, ESS, and BIND tables. For example, the LUNS interface
interprets character-coded logon messages from remote LUs to applications on the
NonStop system or (for passthrough) to SNA host applications. Applications accessed
through LUNS are called LUNS applications.
Creator Processes
For LU accept using CRT or ITI protocols on SNAX/XF primary lines and SNAX/APN
XLF and ELF configurations, applications on the NonStop system can be started
automatically by a Creator process. The Creator process can be either SNAX
Creator-2 or (SNAX/XF only) the original Creator process.
CNM Applications
The SNAX service manager’s communications network management (CNM) interface
allows management applications to collect SNAX/XF configuration, status, and
statistical information:
CNM CONFIG processes gather HP-formatted status and statistical information
about SNAX/XF resources.
CNM applications gather SNA-formatted configuration and statistical information
(RECFMS, NMVTs) about SNA devices on SNAX/XF primary lines.
CNM servers service requests from SNA hosts to gather SNA-formatted
configuration and statistical information (RECFMS, NMVTs) about SNA devices on
SNAX/XF primary lines.
SNAX Connection Manager Processes
SNAX/CM processes provide interactive and programmatic interfaces for controlling
X.25 switched virtual circuits (SVCs) used by a SNAX/XF subsystem. SNAX/CM is also
used to control Ethernet and Token-Ring link stations.
