Gigabit Ethernet ServerNet adapter (GESA)
Gigabit Ethernet ServerNet adapter (GESA). A single-port ServerNet adapter that
provides 1000 megabits/second (Mbps) data transfer rates between HP NonStop™
systems and Ethernet LANs. A GESA can be directly installed in slots 51 through 54 of
an I/O enclosure and slots 53 and 54 of a processor enclosure.
Two versions of the GESA are available:
3865 GESA-C (T523572): a single-port copper version compliant with the 1000
Base-T standard (802.3ab)
3865 GESA-F (T523572): a single-port fiber version compliant with the 1000
Base-SX standard (802.z)
Gigabit Ethernet 4-port ServerNet adapter (G4SA). A multiport ServerNet adapter that
provides 1000 megabits/second (Mbps) data transfer rates between HP NonStop™
systems and Ethernet LANs. The G4SA is installed in slots 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 of an I/O
adapter module (IOAM). There are two IOAMs in an I/O adapter module (IOAM)
enclosure, so a total of 10 G4SAs can be installed in an enclosure. The G4SA is the
only LAN adapter supported for the IOAM enclosure. Although the G4SA implements
the Ethernet 4 ServerNet Adapter (E4SA), Fast Ethernet ServerNet Adapter (FESA),
and the Gigabit Ethernet ServerNet adapter (GESA) functions, it cannot be installed in
an HP NonStop™ S-series enclosure.
Guardian environment. The Guardian application program interface (API) and the HP
NonStop tools. The Guardian API, including the file-system interface, permits user
programs to communicate with the NonStop Kernel.
H-series. A version of software. H06.03 is the first version to run on the NonStop
NS-series servers.
host. See SNA host.
host-initiated passthrough. A passthrough mode in which the host application program
initiates a session. For host-initiated passthrough, the system manager must establish
the path between the gateway LU and the device when configuring the gateway LU;
the gateway LU must be defined with the PASSTHRU and ASSOCIATE attributes and,
optionally, the STATIC attribute.
host system. In an SNA network, a general-purpose processor that contains a subsystem
services control point (SSCP), PU type 5 logic, and one or more LUs representing
different applications or application subsystems.Typically an IBM mainframe running
VTAM, such as an IBM 3033. A NonStop system running SNAX/XF acts as a host to
attached SNA devices. See also LUNS
.
HP Tandem Advanced Command Language (TACL). The user interface to the NonStop
Kernel operating system. The TACL product is both a command interpreter and a
command language. Users can write TACL programs that perform complex tasks
simply or provide a consistent user interface across independently programmed
applications.
