switched line
it becomes temporarily subordinate to a LINE object because it is needed for a
switched connection.
switched line. A telecommunications line in which the connection is established by dialing.
See also nonswitched line.
switched virtual circuit (SVC). An X.25 virtual circuit that is established dynamically when
needed. Contrast with permanent virtual circuit (PVC).
system area network (SAN). (1) A wormhole-routed, full-duplex, packet-switched,
point-to-point network designed with special attention to reducing latency and ensuring
reliability. The ServerNet SAN provides the communication path used for
interprocessor messages and for communication between processors and I/O devices.
(2) A low cost, high speed network, contained within a system, that connects
processors to each other and to ServerNet addressable controllers (SACs).
system configuration database. The database file on the $SYSTEM.ZSYSCONF
subvolume that contains configuration information for all system objects that can be
configured by SYSGENR and Subsystem Control Facility (SCF). See also
configuration file.
Systems Network Architecture (SNA). A description of the logical structure, formats,
protocols, and operational sequences for transmitting information units through, and
controlling the configuration and operation of, networks.
system services control point (SSCP). The focal point within an SNA network for
managing the configuration, coordinating network operator and problem determination
requests, and providing directory support and other session services for the users of
the network. Multiple SSCPs, cooperating as peers, can divide the network into
domains of control, with each SSCP having a hierarchical control relationship to the
PUs and LUs within its domain.
TACL. See HP Tandem Advanced Command Language (TACL).
TASK object. An SCF object defining a data link control task running in a CLIP.
template LU. An LU that is added using SCF like standard LUs but is never opened by
applications. A template LU is added for each and every CRT or ITI application that will
be logged onto by devices in the IBM network when the SNAX/APN enhanced logon
facility (ELF) is used. When ELF receives a logon request for a CRT or ITI application,
it uses the information in that application’s template LU to build and dynamically add an
LU for the requested session.
timestamp. A value indicating the date and time that something occurred (for example, the
most recent time a file was modified).
TLOGMGR. The component of the SNAX/APN line handler that processes logon requests
forwarded by the ILOGMGR in SNAX/APN XLF LU accept.
