WAN subsystem
and managing the WAN subsystem and the ServerNet wide area network (SWAN)
concentrator. The WAN manager process is named $ZZWAN.
WAN subsystem. See wide area network (WAN) subsystem.
WANBoot process. The WANBoot process is provided as part of the WAN subsystem. The
WANBoot process runs as a NonStop process pair in each CPU that supports a
NonStop TCP/IP process that is supporting WAN communications. The WANBoot
process implements the BOOTP protocol. The WANBoot process provides
management functions to the WAN subsystem and the WAN products such as
downloading IP addresses to the ServerNet wide area network (SWAN) concentrator
and updating the firmware on each communications line interface processor (CLIP) on
the SWAN concentrator.
wide area network (WAN). A network that operates over a larger geographical area than a
local area network (LAN)—typically, an area with a radius greater than one kilometer.
The elements of a WAN may be separated by distances great enough to require
telephone communications. Contrast with local area network (LAN) and system area
network (SAN).
wide area network (WAN) subsystem. The Subsystem Control Facility (SCF) subsystem
for configuration and management of WAN objects in G-series RVUs.
X.21. A digital signaling interface recommended by the International Telecommunications
Union, Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) that includes specifications
for data terminal equipment/data communications equipment (DTE/DCE) physical
interface elements, alignment of call control characters and error checking, elements of
the call control phase for circuit switched services, data transfer at or below 9600 bits
per second, and test loops.
X.25. A CCITT recommendation for the interface between data terminal equipment and
packet-switching networks; it is also referred to as Recommendation X.25.
X.25 line. A type of line object representing a connection through X25AM to an X.25
network.
X25AM. NonStop software that provides an interface to X.25 packet-switched data
networks.
XID frame. Exchange identification frame.
XLF. See Extended Logon Facility (XLF)
.
$ZNET. The process name of the Subsystem Control Point (SCP) management process.
$SSCP. Default name of the service-manager process. The object name is either $SSCP
(the default) or, when using multiple service managers, $SSCPn, where n is a number
assigned at configuration.
