DLU
DLU. Destination logical unit.
domain. In SNA, a system services control point (SSCP) and the PUs, LUs, links, and
associated resources that the SSCP has the ability to control by means of activation
requests and deactivation requests.
DSM. See Distributed Systems Management (DSM)
.
DTE. See data terminal equipment (DTE)
.
dynamic passthrough. A passthrough mode in which gateway LUs on a secondary
SNAX/XF line in the Compaq subhost are dynamically assigned to Compaq resident
SLU processes and Compaq-connected SNA devices for establishing LU-LU sessions
with host PLU programs. Dynamic passthrough allows for device-initiated sessions
throughout the Compaq Expand network. With dynamic passthrough, no USS messages
flow from the host SSCP to the device. Logon requests flow to the Compaq SSCP and
not the host SSCP.
EIO. See execute I/O (EIO)
.
ELF. See Enhanced Logon Facility (ELF)
.
empty response record. A response record containing only the return token with a value that
indicates there are no more response records. See also return token
.
EMS. See Event Management Service (EMS)
.
EMS standard definitions. The set of declarations provided by EMS for use in event
management, regardless of the subsystem. Any application that retrieves tokens from
event messages needs the EMS standard definitions. See also definite response mode
,
SPI common extensions standard definitions
, and SPI standard definitions.
Enhanced Logon Facility (ELF). A feature of the SNAX/APN-EN (End Node) product that
enables LU-LU sessions between Compaq applications and remote 3270 devices in an
IBM network. ELF works with the IBM Session Services Extension (SSE) and does not
require the installation of Compaq software on an IBM system. ELF is not supported in
the SNAX/APN (LEN Node) product.
enumerated type. A 16-bit signed token type that has one of a specified list of values with
designated meanings. It is indicated by the token ZSPI-TYP-ENUM.
error. A condition that causes a command or other operation to fail.
error code. A value indicating the reason for an error. See also error number
.
error list. A group of tokens used within a response record to provide error and warning
information. An error list consists of a list token that denotes an error list (different from
the token that starts a data list or a generic list), followed by an error token, other tokens
explaining the error (optional), and an endlist token. Error lists can be nested within
