session
SNAX/APN, passing them on to a line handler when necessary. The same service
manager is provided as part of SNAX/XF, and SNAX/APN, and a single service
manager can manage both products. Multiple service managers can also be configured.
session. A temporary logical connection between two network-addressable units (NAUs) for
the purpose of exchanging data and control information in accordance with ground rules
that have been agreed upon for that exchange. A session can be activated, tailored to
provide various protocols, and deactivated, as requested.

that have been agreed upon for that exchange. A session can be activated, tailored to

SESSION object type. An SCF or SPI object type that defines a session. The programmatic
token for this object type is ZCOM-OBJ-SESS.
session passthrough. A SNAX/XF feature that allows the SNA host to control SNA devices
on Compaq NonStop™ systems as if they were directly connected to the host.
session services. Support for establishing, conducting, and terminating communication
between two application programs in a network.
simple token. A token consisting of a token code and a value that is either a single
elementary field, such as an integer or a character string, or a fixed (nonextensible)
structure. See also extensible structured token
.
SLU. See secondary logical unit (SLU)
.
SNA. Systems Network Architecture.
SNALU interface. A Compaq API that requires the application to control all SNA flows.
SNALU allows application processes in a Compaq system to communicate with SNA
devices (as a PLU) and host-resident applications (as an SLU).
SNALU/XS. An interface that provides the functions of the lower two SNA layers (data link
control and path control) and some functions of the transmission control layer for
SNAX/APN.
SNAX. A trademark pertaining to a family of Compaq products.
SNAX/APN. A Compaq product that allows a Compaq system to act as a type 2.1 node in a
variety of network configurations. With SNAX/APN, LUs in a Compaq system can
participate in sessions with LUs located in remote type 2.1 nodes. No intervention by a
controlling host-system SSCP is required to establish or terminate LU-LU sessions
because type 2.1 nodes function as peers.
SNAX/APN logon manager (TLOGMGR). The module within SNAX/APN that handles
logon from a remote 3270 device. The TLOGMGR works in cooperation with the
Compaq Logon Manager for IBM Systems (ILOGMGR).
