SSCP
multiple subsystems (for example, the EMS standard definitions). An application using
SPI needs the SPI standard definitions and also the subsystem definitions for all
subsystems with which it communicates. See also definition files.
SSCP. See system services control point (SSCP)
.
SSCP-LU session. In SNA, a session between an SSCP and an LU that enables the LU to
request the SCCP to help initiate LU-LU sessions.
SSID. See subsystem ID (ZSPI-TKN-SSID)
.
STARTED state. As defined by SCF or SPI, the state of an object that has been defined and
initialized.
STARTING state. As defined by SCF or SPI, the state of an object that is being initialized.
The STARTING state is a transition state between the STOPPED and the STARTED
states.
state. In the context of SCF or SPI, one of the generally defined possible conditions of an
object with respect to the management of that object. In the context of SNA and other
data communications protocols, one of the defined possible conditions of an object with
respect to the protocol.
static passthrough. In SNAX/XF, a passthrough mode that allows SLUs connected to a
Compaq system to take the initiative in establishing sessions with host application
programs. With static passthrough, the host SSCP can send USS messages to devices
connected to a Compaq system.
STOPPED state. As defined by SCF or SPI, the state of an object that has been added to the
configuration by means of the ADD command, but is not currently initialized.
STOPPING state. As defined by SCF or SPI, the state of an object that has been defined and
started, but is being terminated by means of the STOP command.
structure. A data item with multiple fields, possibly of different types.
structured token. A token whose value is a structure. A structured token can be a simple
token with a fixed structure, such as the error token ZSPI-TKN-ERROR, or an
extensible structured token.
subarea. A portion of an SNA network consisting of a host or a communication controller
and its peripheral nodes.
SUBSYS object type. An SCF or SPI object type that, for SNAX/XF, defines the service-
manager process. The programmatic token for this object type is ZCOM-OBJ-SUBSYS.
subsystem. In the context of the Subsystem Programmatic Interface (SPI) and the Event
Management Service (EMS), a process or collection of processes that give users access
to a set of related resources or services. A subsystem typically controls a cohesive set of
objects.
