Running the COBOL85 or NMCOBOL Compiler in
the Guardian Environment
list-file
is the destination file to which the compiler directs the listing; list-file can be
a disk file, process (including a spooler collector), or I/O device name (including a
terminal, magnetic tape unit, or printer) as follows:
[\node.]file
\node
is an optional node (system) name.
file
is one of these Guardian names:
[$volume-name.][subvolume-name.]disk-file-name
$device-name
$logical-device-number
$process-name
$spooler-collector-name[.#spooler-location-name]
If list-file is a disk file, the file must already exist. If the file is an unstructured
disk file, each record of list-file is 132 characters (partial lines are blank filled
on the right through column 132).
list-file can also be a class SPOOL DEFINE name.
If you specify OUT but omit list-file, the compiler does not generate a listing.
If you omit both OUT and list-file, the compiler directs the listing to the OUT
file of the invoking process (usually your home terminal).
run-option
is a TACL RUN option. For a list of run options, see the description of the RUN[D]
command in Entering the TACL RUN Command on page 7-2 and in the TACL
Reference Manual.
target-file
is the Guardian name or TACL DEFINE name of a disk file to which the compiler
writes the object file. The compiler generates target-file if the compilation is
successful. The default name for target-file is RUNUNIT, qualified by the
default system, volume, and subvolume names.
copy-library
is a Guardian name or TACL DEFINE name of a COPY library containing source
code text. The library file must be an EDIT-format (file code 101) disk file. The
default name for copy-library is COPYLIB qualified by the default system,
volume, and subvolume names.
